Many builders and contractors own their tools and heavy machinery. However, almost all contractors will need a rare piece of equipment or a replacement if they’ve sent something out for commercial equipment repair. For these reasons and others, they often find themselves renting tools and machinery. Some contractors may even rent items exclusively in order to keep costs on projects down.

Today, there are all types of tool and equipment rental services that contractors can use to get the job done. Here are a few examples of popular rental services that many builders use:

  • Power Equipment Rental: Power equipment can include everything from small hand tools and power tools to large items like floor removal machines. The option to rent is convenient for builders who suddenly need extra parts or a replacement for a worn out power tool. Equipment rentals such as these generally can be done by the hour, the day, or the week.
  • Forklift Rental: Building sites, warehouses, and other projects sometimes require the use of a forklift to move objects. Forklifts provide great convenience for workers when compared with using a pallet jack or similar equipment. However, forklifts are also extremely dangerous and must only be used by workers who are licensed in forklift safety.
  • Scissor Lift and Scaffolding Rental: Many contractors rent scissor lifts and aluminum scaffolding for projects rather than buying them outright. However, these items require extreme caution to use, and scissor lifts, especially, need to be rented by those who are licensed to use them.
  • Bobcat Equipment Rental: Some contractors may find that they need heavy machinery, including Bobcat equipment rentals. These machines provide builders with the ability to lift and move heavy objects. However, like forklifts and scissor lifts, any contractors who rent this equipment must be licensed to use it for safety reasons.

Many contractors have even said that they are better off renting equipment than buying it, as it reduces liability and can even provide a tax break for business expenses. Have more questions about renting power equipment? Leave a comment below. Find more on this topic here.
