Don’t Risk Your Plumbing, Call The Professionals

We all like to think of ourselves as handy, especially when it comes to fixing problems that spring up around the house. While small issues we may be able to fix ourselves, it’s good to know when to throw in the towel and call commercial plumbers. As many people find out the hard way, trying to fix broken pipes, or leaky faucets, can sometimes lead to bigger problems down the line.

When To Call Commercial Plumbers

No matter how handy you are, here are somethings that you should keep in mind.

  • Leaky Faucets Even if you perform regular maintenance it’s inevitable that leaks will eventually occur. A leaky faucet can not only be annoying, but it can contribute to a higher water bill. A leaky faucet can cause hundreds of extra gallons of water to be wasted each year, which is nothing to sneeze at. The older your faucet, the more likely you are to experience this, as the washers that create a seal can wear down or become dislodged. The breaking of this seal allows for water to continuously trickle, leading to future issues. While you may think this issue is easy to fix, you may find it more difficult without the specialized tools required. Likewise ceramic taps require a more complex replacement, which can be better left to commercial plumbers. If replaced incorrectly you’ll find yourself back at square one, or with additional damage.
  • Broken Pipes. If your pipes are leaking there may be a break somewhere. These leaks can not only be difficult to fix, but they can cause other damage depending on where they are. Too much water can cause wooden fixtures to warp, or even other pipes to become compromised. Leaking typically occurs along the joints of pipes, and commercial fixtures can be used for a temporary fix; however, that is a short term repair. A replacement pipe will be needed to completely rectify this issue, which is a job best left to the professionals. Hiring commercial plumbers in this instance can save you time, cleanup, and money over all.
  • Clogs. If your sink, toilet, or tub isn’t draining as it should, or is backing up completely, you probably have a clog somewhere along the line. Sometimes this can be easily fixed with an auger or plunger, but other times more intervention is needed. If clogging is becoming more frequent it may be time to call in a plumber. Depending on where you live the problem can even be as severe as tree roots interfering with pipes outside. If you’ve tried plunging, but the problem persists, calling commercial plumbers is the way to go.
  • Low Pressure. If you find that the water pressure is getting less and less, you may have a not so simple problem on your hands. The issue can be caused by something as simple as a build up in the pipes; however, a fracture in the mainline can also be the culprit. If the mainline has been compromised commercial plumbers are the only way to go. To rule out simple reasons you could try soaking a faucet aerator in vinegar overnight to remove buildup. Additionally you could affix a bag filled with vinegar over the head if it cannot be removed. If this isn’t producing results you should seek out a plumber for additional options or repairs.

There are a lot of simple fixes we can do at home on our own; however, it’s good to know when the issue is too big for us to solve. Having a commercial plumber take care of more major issues can give you reassurance that everything is working as it should be. Don’t take unnecessary risks with your plumbing. When in doubt call the professionals.
